Neutrinos are particles that have no electric charge, and travel at nearly the light.  They are able to pass through most types of matter having very little effect on it.  According to study conducted in 1999 neutrinos have a very, small mass close to 0.  Because of all of this they are very hard to detect.  On earth our largest source of neutrinos is from the sun.  This is because neutrinos are created by the radioactive decay and the sun is our largest source of this.  Some other sources of neutrinos are nuclear reactors or when cosmic rays hit atoms.  There are three distinct types of neutrinos (as well as there anti mater oppisites), electron neutrinos, muon neutrinos and tau neutrinos.
