Radioactivity 2008

Radioactivity

Radioactivity, on the highest level, is just atoms emmiting particles. The atom emmiting the radiation is called the 'Parent', and the atom left after the decay is called the 'Daughter'. In the standard model radiation is caused by the weak force. Bosons are emmited by the nucleus, and quarks change flavour. This can be seen as the trigger in the eventual release of the radiation.
